Anatol Dutta (Professor; Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich) highlighted the main common and divergent trends in national family and succession matters. He also focused on the harmonisation of Private International law as a means of mitigating the impact of these differences on the free movement of people. He analysed the various techniques of harmonisation and finally, discussed the limits of the EU’s policies in these fields.
