Global Private Law SIG
Global Private Law SIG
The ELI Contract, Tort and Property Law SIG was established in mid-2015 and was renamed the Global Private Law SIG in autumn 2017 to reflect its broader geographical scope of focus. It is currently chaired by Anne McNaughton and Albert Ruda. Among other topics, this SIG considers issues such as preventing foreclosure in the residential immovable property market; it conducts research even if short-term results may not be followed-up by legislation, such as research concerning traffic accidents, mediation, access to private and public housing, financial losses by private investors, third-party litigation funding and European legal education. Other topics concern more general areas of private law, such as punitive measures in private law and pre-/post-contractual liability and uniformity in legal terminology. Anyone interested in joining this SIG is welcome to do so by contacting the ELI Secretariat.
