ELI Insurance Law SIG Held Its Tenth ATILA Lecture

On 21 November 2024, the 10th ATILA Lecture was held on ‘Insurance as an Investment – The Retail Investment Strategy of the European Union’.

After a general overview of the Retail Investment Strategy of the European Union by Christoph Brömmelmeyer (Co-Chair of the SIG; Professor, University of Frankfurt/Oder), Karel van Hulle (Former Head of Insurance and Pensions at the European Commission; Professor Emeritus, KU Leuven) spoke about ‘The RIS 2024: Legislative Deficiencies’, giving a critical view of the Retail Investment Strategy.

In the third speech, Daniel Schwarcz (Professor, University of Minnesota Law School) shared insights into the most current issues relating to Generative AI powered by Robo-Advisors. He discussed the advantages and disadvantages of financial advice provided by Generative AI and proposed approaches to address these challenges, while balancing innovation and consumer protection.

Finally, Helmut Heiss (Co-Chair of the SIG; Professor, University of Zurich) moderated a short discussion and subsequently thanked the speakers and the audience for their participation.
