Pascal Pichonnaz
Pascal Pichonnaz is currently Ordinary Professor (since 2000) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Fribourg, he specialises in Swiss contract law, Roman law, European consumer law and comparative contract law. Pichonnaz has been Dean of the Faculty of Law from 2014–2017 and published several books on various aspects of contract law (Swiss and comparative law), Roman law, as well as unfair competition law and family law.
Pichonnaz has many active research projects and has written numerous articles in Swiss periodicals and abroad, on a range of subjects in the field of family law, contract law, Roman law, unfair competition, arbitration and methodological issues.
In addition, he was Visiting Professor at several Universities, including Paris Panthéon-Assas, Rome Tor Vergata, Georgetown Law, Istanbul, Montpellier and others. He is also a member of several board of editors of legal periodicals in Switzerland (including ZSR, Zeitschrift für Schweizerisches Recht; Baurecht; SJZ) and in Europe (including RIDA, Index, Fundamina) and has spoken at a large number of conferences in Europe and abroad.
Pichonnaz is a standing member of the Jury of the Premio internazionale di diritto romano Gérard Boulvert and is active as an international commercial arbitrator (ICC, Swiss Rules-SCAI, ad hoc).
He is a former member of the board (2005–2009) of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA), and Chair of ELFA (2008–2009). Pichonnaz was also general reporter at the IACL XXth International Congress in Fukoka in July 2018.
