Established in 2002, the Federal Competition Authority is responsible for maintaining and securing competition in Austria. It promotes public awareness of cartel and antitrust practices by means of publicity, transparency and external communication, in order to deter offenses and to facilitate their detection. The Federal Competition Authority aims to improve cooperation with domestic and foreign public authorities, as well as other stakeholders, in order to increase the efficiency and facilitate antitrust and cartel regulation operations. Finally it is charged with obtaining appropriate and sufficient human resources and infrastructure necessary for a well-functioning competition, especially through professional education and training.
