The Centre for European Business Law Studies presents itself as a hub focused on advanced and interdisciplinary research. The Center is a multi- and interdisciplinary research unit within the Faculty of Law of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. It practices and promotes research in the field of European studies in a transdisciplinary manner. The Center functions as a host unit for researchers and multidisciplinary research projects. It also regularly hosts seminars and conferences.
The creation of a research programme with a priority focus on European Union law studies is justified given the complexity of legislative measures at European level generated by the evolution of new technologies that have a strong impact on the socio-economic environment. The European Union is a crucial factor in shaping the political and socio-economic order of Europe, which is why, in its research, the CSDEA addresses issues related to the institutional structure and economic governance of the European Union, as well as broader social aspects of European integration and the role of the European Union as a global actor. Through its activities, the Center promotes close collaboration between actors in academia, research, industry, public administration, and civil society, as well as alignment with national and European development priorities. To this end, the Center supports participation in international conferences and seminars. One of the Center's goals is to support the international connections of researchers. The Center for European Business Law Studies takes a broad view of European law, including European Union institutional law, European company law, European competition law, European labor law, European contract law, European intellectual property law, European tax law, European business criminal law, as well as other branches or specializations of European law or comparative law. The Centre creates an environment that facilitates formal and informal exchanges between researchers interested in European law and aims to ensure greater visibility for this expertise by providing it with an institutional framework. The Centre promotes interdisciplinary research, taking into account its complexity and dynamics.
Values:
Pride and belonging, Rigour and scientific integrity
Excellence and performance
Collaboration and knowledge sharing
Respect and social commitment
Objectives:
The Center contributes to achieving the university's strategic objectives, particularly with regard to organized research (conducted by Center members); postgraduate education (by including doctoral students as members and research assistants); equality, diversity, inclusion (especially inclusive digitization), and interculturalism (as research topics pursued under the umbrella of European law).
The Center's activities range from organizing international events, such as conferences, workshops, and lectures, to national conferences and debates held within the Center's discussion group. The Center's members are responsible for teaching EU law within the faculty's various study programs.
