The Supreme Court is the highest court in the Republic of Serbia. The Supreme Court rules on extraordinary legal remedies in criminal, civil and administrative matter. Its jurisdiction is prescribed by the Law on Organization of Courts by Article 32:
- The Supreme Court shall decide on extraordinary legal remedies file against decisions of courts in the Republic of Serbia and in other matters set forth by the law;
- The Supreme Court shall decide on conflicts of jurisdiction between courts, if this does not fall under the jurisdiction of any other court, as well as on the transfer of jurisdiction of courts to facilitate proceedings or for other important reasons;
- The Supreme Court ensures unique judicial application of law and the equality of parties in court proceedings, reviews the application of laws and other regulations and the work of courts, appoints judges of the Constitutional Court, provides opinions about the candidate for the president and judge of the Supreme Court in cases prescribed by law, adopts the Rules of Procedure of the Supreme Court and performs other activities prescribed by law.
