Galatasaray University is the apotheosis of a five-century-old teaching tradition that began in 1481. It was founded through an international agreement signed 1992, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Turgut Özal, and the President of France, François Mitterand.

Our students, with the support of Faculty members, have achieved significant success in prestigious moot court competitions (Philip C Jessup, Willem C Vis, Jean Pictet, René Cassin, Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court, ISTAC etc) on both national and international level.
Our Faculty hosts many national and international conferences each year. The Comparative Swiss-Turkish Law Seminars in cooperation with the Faculty of Law of the University of Fribourg are held annually with participation of many students and Faculty members.
