The Council on General Affairs and Policy (CGAP) of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (HCCH) took place in the Hague from 4–7 March 2025. ELI was represented online by its President, Prof Dr Pascal Pichonnaz.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the HCCH's ongoing and potential legislative instruments. ELI is actively involved in several key topics on the agenda, including digital tokens and the digital economy, through initiatives such as its Principles on the Use of Digital Assets as Security (2022). Additionally, ELI's projects on Access to Digital Assets and Model Rules on Succession of Digital Assets, Data and other Digital Remains also address critical aspects of this theme.
Among other topics, participants also explored the practical implementation of the 2000 Hague Convention on the Protection of Adults. This issue was examined in ELI’s 2020 Report on the Protection of Adults in International Situations and its 2022 Response to the European Commission's Public Consultation on the Initiative on the Cross-Border Protection of Vulnerable Adults.
