Competencies
- An Officer at the ELI Secretariat ensures that the procedures which are essential to the running of the Secretariat and the ELI are completed. He/she has knowledge and understanding of concepts and approaches relevant to project management and administration.
- An Officer at the ELI Secretariat is able to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plans own work and manages conflicting priorities, is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results.
- The position carries a great deal of individual responsibility and requires working independently as well as in a team.
- The Officer is in charge of the coordination and monitoring of ELI projects, the drafting of legal documents and amongst other things the preparation of the regular ELI newsletter.
- They assist ELI bodies by preparing reports and organise meetings and other events, such as the ELI Annual Conference and General Assembly as well as ensure the smooth functioning of the Secretariat.
Minimum Requirements
- A law degree (minimum bachelor’s degree) or another equivalent degree with comprehensive legal education is required.
- Excellent command of English is required (native speaker level).
- Knowledge of any other language, especially German, is an advantage.
- Experience in project management grant management and event management is essential. Work experience at international organisations would be an asset.
Although the employee will be hired directly with the European Law Institute, the salary scheme of the University of Vienna (§54 VwGr. IIIa) applies. Please note the position is co-funded by the European Commission within a Framework Agreement (JUST/2014/JCOO/FP/NETW/6768) and is subject to the ELI receiving the Grant. As this is a co-funded position, initially the duration of the post would be until 31 December 2018 which, depending on the availability of subsequent funding and the candidate’s performance, could be extended.
