Jens M Scherpe is Professor of Comparative Law at Aalborg University and founding director of the Nordic Centre for Comparative and International Family Law (NorFam). Until August 2022, Jens was Professor of Comparative Law at the University of Cambridge and founding Director of Cambridge Family Law. He is an Emeritus Fellow of Gonville and Caius College and the editor of the International Journal of Law, Policy and the Family (IJLPF). He has held visiting positions ia at universities in Sydney, Auckland, London, Vienna, Leuven, Barcelona, Padua, Louvain-la-Neuve and Melbourne, where he taught courses on Comparative Family Law and European Family Law.
Currently Jens is Extraordinary Professor at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa and Cheng Yu Tung Visiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong, as well as Academic Door Tenant at the barristers’ chambers Queen Elizabeth Building (QEB), London. He also is one of the founding members of the ELI Nordic Hub and currently is one of the co-chairs.
Jens has served on the ELI Council for one term, and in that time was on the Membership Committee as well as being involved in ELI work in various other capacities.
