Dr Sarah Bechaalany is a lawyer in Geneva and Deputy Judge at the Swiss Federal Supreme Court. Her practice focuses on pension funds, social securities, banking and finance as well as collective investment schemes.

She obtained her Bachelor and Master of Laws degrees at the University of Fribourg and Kings College London, with honours in European law (summa cum laude). Her doctoral thesis focused on investment foundations ('Les fondations de placement: du droit privé au droit public'). It was awarded the Professor Walther Hug prize as well as the Vigener prize. During her research, Dr Bechaalany spent time at the Max-Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, with the support of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
