Lajos Vékás

Lajos Vékás is a member and Vice-President (since 2014) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and a member of the Academia Europaea. He is professor emeritus and former Director (1979–1999) of the Institute of Civil Law and former Rector (1990–1993) of the Eötvös Lorand University in Budapest. He was the Founding Rector of the Collegium Budapest Institute of Advanced Study (1992–1997). He is a member in the Editorial Board of several European legal journals. His main scientific interests are the historical development of the contractual system, the codification of private law and general problems of private international law.
