Susanne Augenhofer has been a Full Professor of Law at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) since January 2020. Prior to that she was Professor of Law at Humboldt University of Berlin (Germany), as well as at the University of Erfurt (Germany). She served as Visiting Professor at Yale Law School (spring 2020), NYU School of Law (USA, 2018) and at Columbia Law School (USA, 2016).
She studied law at the University of Graz, the Università Statale di Milano (Italy) and the University of Vienna and conducted research as an academic visitor at the Max-Planck-Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Germany), the London School of Economics (Great Britain) and as a Jean-Monnet-Fellow at the European University Institute (Italy). She was a Fulbright scholar at Yale Law School (USA, LLM, 2003) and a Yale-Fox-Fellow at the Free University Berlin (Germany, LLM, 2004).
She currently serves as a Co-Chair of the ELI Austrian Hub and has advised the European Parliament and the European Commission on various issues regarding European fair trading as well as consumer law (including product liability) and its enforcement. In March 2021, she was elected to the Advisory Group on Consumer Policy of the European Commission.
